Selection must confirm the host form factor, electrical interface, PMD, FEC, fiber mapping, power and thermal limits, software version and the remote endpoint; the model name alone does not establish interoperability.

The specification lists Up to approx. 550m, subject to fiber grade. Multimode reach is bounded by modal bandwidth, so the fiber grade already in the ground decides the usable distance rather than the module. Re-check the loss budget whenever patch panels or splices sit in the path.
No. 1.25G SFP SX is a multimode transceiver on Duplex LC; driving it into single-mode fiber loses far too much power to close the link. Match the module to the installed fiber, or select a single-mode PMD instead.
Give the host vendor, model and software version at both ends, the SFP port or lane mode, the operating temperature range, the quantity per site and the target delivery date. For 1.25G SFP SX also state the installed fiber grade, the Duplex LC trunk type and the measured link distance. Compatibility is confirmed per platform, so the host details matter as much as the optical specification.
