10G SFP+ LR is listed for 10km over duplex single-mode fiber on Duplex LC. What decides it on site is the total loss budget: fiber attenuation plus every connector, splice and patch panel in the path. Measure the installed link rather than trusting the reach label.
Often yes. 10G SFP+ LR is built to drive 10km, so on a few metres of fiber the received power can exceed the receiver overload point, which shows up as errors or a link that will not stay up. Check the overload figure in the ordering specification and attenuate the bench setup accordingly.
